Hi, I'm Deb and Mia

Life takes you where you manifest it to be.

In 2014 I rode my bike up the driveway of a condo I was told was for sale, stuck out my hand to a guy standing in the driveway in a pair of shorts, and said Hi, I'm deb...I heard this place is for sale.

It turned out the condo was not for sale; the owner, a retired Real Estate Broker had no intention of moving into a retirement community just yet. I didn't really want to live in a condo anyhow, I wanted a big dog and I needed a house with a fenced-in yard for that.

Two years later I married Kase, the guy in the shorts and we have an awesome German Shepherd, Mia. The retired Real Estate Broker, Therese, sold me her condo where we currently reside. Therese also wrote the book Word Marketing How to Empower Real Estate Advertising Through the Proper Choice of Words

Dog Power-Word Insurance

Mia absolutely loved her plastic pool up until she waterboarded herself one hot day and now won't set a paw into that pool. We called it her "simpool" as that was the word I used as a tot as I could not pronounce the word swim. We would ask her if she wanted to go out and play in the simpool, and she would run to the door.

She would not last a day in the desert, she is not a fan of hot weather. So a large plastic pool was just the ticket on hot sticky days.

Stay cool with my Key Lime Pie recipe
Posted 10:03 AM 7/21/2020 by Deb Maurer

I only use Nellie & Joe's Key West Lime Juice. This recipe is a version of their recipe which is on the bottle.

I love meringue and you have the exact amount you need for the topping. So I always use this rather than a simple whipped cream version which doesn't impress me a bit. My version is less tart and the cinnamon graham crackers is my idea and doesn't overwhelm the tastebuds, it's a great twist to a classic recipe. SEE FULL RECIPE

You'll wear it and like it! There are more important things than comfort!

At least that's what Rudolph's father Donner tells Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

As we all do our part in these unprecedented times, let's remember that we are in this together, and wearing a mask or not is not a political statement, it is a personal choice in many cases. Let's be kind to one another through this and come out on the other side more enlightened and stronger as a country and as individuals. What we do when not wearing a mask

Cut Through the Noise and Connect With Your Audience

Everyone is so busy these days, even more so than in the past. We are barraged with on-line advertising and social media occupies too much of our time. How do you cut through all that noise and connect with your audience? With the right message to the right person.

A picture paints a thousand words, but well-chosen words can paint a picture that sells. For example, a modest, single-story, "older" home had been on the market for almost 18 months. Three different brokers advertised it as a four bedroom ranch, with no success. The astute fourth broker... READ MORE

Real Estate is Like Online Dating
Posted 1:16 PM 7/7/2020 by Deb Maurer

Anyone who has ever tried on-line dating can tell you how hard it is to describe yourself. We try hard to identify elements of ourselves to play up and advertise, often asking friends and family to help with descriptive adjectives and flowery statements. All in the hope that we can attract just the right person who is a good fit.

The same is true in advertising a home. A picture paints a thousand words, but well chosen words can paint a picture that sells. Word Marketingwill teach you what to look for and how to identify elements in your listing, and help you write powerful ads to attract the right buyer. The right buyer is the one found quickly, easily, and meets or exceeds the listing price. READ MORE

About The Author: Therese
Posted 8:28 AM 7/6/2020 by Deb Maurer

I have been very blessed with having some wonderful people in my life, this lady is one of them, Therese Kasemodel, the author of Word Marketing. She is my Mother-in-law and one of my biggest fans. It was her idea that I get into the real estate because she knows I'm a people person, and she and I have also bonded. We are cut from the same cloth and see eye to eye on many things. So even though I spent the last decade as the National Sales Director for a diamond technology company, she urged me to get into the business of selling homes, so off I go!

She loved being in real estate. A true testimonial is one of her past clients valued her expertise so much, that even though Therese had already put in 40+ years, they wanted her to renew her real estate license so she could again be their agent. THAT is customer loyalty, and another story.

My Intro to Word Marketing
Posted 9:19 AM 7/5/2020 by Deb Maurer

Way back in 2014, I had my first glimpse of a book written by Therese Kasemodel, a real estate career professional that started at Wauwatosa Realty Company and ending with Shorewest. (one became the other).

The first time I picked up the book, I found it interesting because I had a long love affair with looking at houses. For years, I was constantly looking at properties because I was making mental plans to boogie and woogie ...

I plan to publish the 4th Edition of Word Marketing via this fancy blog. It will include updates from my perspective as well as input from Therese Kasemodel ... and anyone else who might like to comment. READ MORE

How Power Napping Can Boost Your Productivity

Mia and Fluffy taking a power nap

The first time I listened to a medical professional describe her sleep deprivation, it was an eye opening experience, pun intended. I was at a health conference in 2016 and had the privilege of sitting next to one of the evenings speakers, Dr. Sherron Marquina, DC, PAK.

She described in frightening detail to the audience what had happened to her personally, like forgetting her name when she was standing in line at the DOT. She realized then that something was seriously wrong with her.
